Fireplace Mantel

The images below show work in progress for this fireplace mantel. The mantle sides and ends are “miter folded” producing a box-beam style of mantle. This results in a lighter weight, easier to install unit with little to no tradeoff in the aesthetic appeal when compared to solid timber. Steel brackets are hand fabricated and distressed. Project was completed before we moved into our new shop.

Notice the two tone, hand fabricated metal brackets. Brackets are inset into the beam for and enhanced fit and fastened with hand forged clavos. Miter folds are perfectly executed making the folds of the individual boards look like they grew together. Constructed from alder, wire brush textured, and stained to the optimum color as requested by the client.
